Amazon has released a web-based Kindle Cloud player today, nicely complementing their growing list of cloud apps available for their content services. As expected, it allows you to read your Kindle books online, complete with whisper-sync. The app is available on Chrome, Safari, and iPad right now and will hopefully be released on other browsers / platforms at a later time.
In an age where you still find websites in Chrome that are “not optimized for your browser” I’m very pleased to see that Amazon not only supports it right off the bat, but even has an app for it in the Chrome App Store that allows users to access their content and read offline. I’ve been a huge fan of the Chrome App Store thus far (as anyone who follows my twitter feed surely knows) so it’s nice to see it getting more attention from big name companies.
